GeoDesign recommends that any sucially loose and saturated material be removed from the base of
the footing areas prior to the placement of concrete.
Lot 238:
Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 238.
GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray to gray-brown silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c)
and a brown SILT with sand. Penetration depths along the north side were generally less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch
diameter soil probe. Penetration depths along the west, south, and east sides ranged from 6 inches to 18 inches.
GeoDesign recommended that the areas be over-excavated down to firm and unyielding material and brought back to
grade with structural fill.
Craig with DDS stated that the over-excavated areas would be over-excavated and backfilled with a crushed rock or
recycled concrete material later this week.
The client and contractor were notified of our observations prior to our departure from the site.
A summary of our observations and density tests can be found in the attached Figure 1, Nuclear Density Gauge Data, and
Photo Log.
This report presencs opinions formed az a result of our observauon of activities relating to georechnical engineering or emironmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative.
