1 Section 4: <br /> 2 A. Person(s) of the age of 61 years or older shall be eligible to <br /> 3 pay a reduced rate for single family residence service as follows: <br /> 4 <br /> $ 7.28 water charge <br /> 5 1.83 filtration charge <br /> .46 5.029% state utility tax <br /> 6 <br /> $ 9.57 per month <br /> 7 <br /> Qualifications for said reduced rate shall be: <br /> 8 <br /> 1. The property to which the utility service is extended shall have a <br /> 9 valid property tax exemption, pursuant to RCW 84.36.381 through RCW <br /> 84.36,385, <br /> 10 <br /> 2. Claimants for said reduction shall live within the corporate limits of <br /> 11 the City of Everett and have a household income level no greater than <br /> $7,000 per year; "income" as used herein shall be computed in the same <br /> 12 manner as in RCW 84.36.381. <br /> 13 3. No persons receiving income other than the claimant or the claimant and <br /> spouse shall occupy the property to which utility service is extended. <br /> 14 <br /> B. Persons of the age of 61 years or older and meeting the above <br /> 15 <br /> qualifications but whose household income, calculated in the same manner as <br /> 16 <br /> income is calculated for purposes of RCW 84.36.381, is $4,000 or less shall <br /> 17 <br /> be charged at the following water rate: <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Single family residence fixed rate: <br /> 20 $ 5.24 water charge <br /> 1.52 filtration charge <br /> 21 .34 5.029% state utility tax <br /> 22 $ 7.10 per month <br /> 23 The minimum monthly charge shall apply to all services to which <br /> water is available without regard to actual consumption. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 C. The City Treasurer shall establish rules, regulations, forms and <br /> 26 affidavits necessary for verification of eligibility for the reduced rates <br /> 27 for low income senior citizens as herein defined and to assure compliance <br /> 28 with the terms of this ordinance. <br /> 29 Section 5: State Utility Tax, The Mayor is authorized to increase <br /> 30 or decrease the water charges herein by the amount of any change in the <br /> 31 State of Washington tax on water system revenues (currently set at 5.029% of <br /> 32 system revenues). <br /> 13 <br />
