1 ORDINANCE NO. /vj%6 -f <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the 1985 Edition of <br /> 3 the Uniform Fire Code and the Uniform Fire Code Standards, and <br /> repealing Ordinance No. 's 724-80, 315-74, 172-71 and 1172-85. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 6 <br /> Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Fire Code." <br /> 7 <br /> Section 2: There is hereby established in the City of Everett, the <br /> 8 <br /> Fire Department which shall be under the jurisdiction of the Fire Chief, <br /> 9 <br /> designated by the Mayor. <br /> 10 <br /> Section 3: The Uniform Fire Code (hereinafter referred to as "UFC") , <br /> 11 <br /> including Appendix Chapters III-A, V-A and VI-C, and the Uniform Fire Code <br /> 12 <br /> Standards, published by the Western Fire Chiefs Association and the <br /> 13 <br /> International Conference of Building Officials, being particularly the 1985 <br /> 14 <br /> Editions thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are <br /> 15 <br /> hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are hereby adopted by reference and <br /> 16 <br /> incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length herein. <br /> 17 <br /> Section 4: Amendments Made in The Uniform Fire Code and The Uniform <br /> 18 <br /> Fire Code Standards. <br /> 19 <br /> A. Section 2.302 of the 1985 Edition of the UFC is hereby amended by <br /> 20 <br /> deleting: <br /> 21 <br /> 22 In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and <br /> type of construction and to provide for reasonable <br /> 23 interpretations of the provisions of this code, there shall be <br /> and hereby is created a Board of Appeals consisting of five <br /> 24 members who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon <br /> pertinent matters. The fire chief shall be an ex officio member <br /> 25 and shall act as secretary of the board. The Board of Appeals <br /> shall be appointed by the executive body and shall hold office at <br /> 26 their pleasure. The board shall adopt reasonable rules and <br /> regulations for conducting its investigations and shall render <br /> 27 all decisions and findings in writing to the fire chief, with a <br /> duplicate copy to the appellant, and may recommend to the <br /> 28 executive body such new legislation as is consistent therewith. <br /> 29 <br /> and inserting in its place: <br /> 30 <br /> 31 In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and <br /> methods of construction, to provide for reasonable <br /> 32 <br />
