5( y_ 33 <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. 1 <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the Everett Electrical <br /> 3 Code and repealing Ordinance No.'s 807-81 and 724-80. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 6 Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Electrical Code." <br /> 7 Section 2: The National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition, published by the <br /> 8 National Fire Protection Association, the Department of Labor and Industries Rules and <br /> 9 Regulations for installing electrical wires and equipment and Administrative Rules <br /> 10 (Chapter 19.28 RCW), and the Department of Labor and Industries Electrical <br /> 11 Installation Law (Chapters 296-46 and 296-401 Washington Administrative Code) are <br /> 12 hereby adopted by reference except as such portions as are hereinafter deleted, <br /> 13 amended or modified. <br /> 14 Section 3: Amendments Made In The National Electrical Code. <br /> 15 A. The National Electrical Code is amended by adding a new Article 80 - <br /> 16 Administrative section which shall read as follows: <br /> 17 <br /> 80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which <br /> 18 additions, alterations, or repairs are made to electrical system, including <br /> any and all electrical wires, services, equipment and apparatus shall <br /> 19 comply with all the requirements for new work in buildings and structures <br /> as set forth in this Code except as specifically provided for in this <br /> 20 section. <br /> 21 (b) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 11 shall take <br /> precedence. <br /> 22 <br /> 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus <br /> 23 shall be maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which <br /> are required by this Code in a building, sign or structure when erected, <br /> 24 altered or repaired shall be maintained in a safe and good working order. <br /> The owner or his agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of all <br /> 25 such electrical wiring, equipment and apparatus. <br /> 26 80-3 MOVED BUILDINGS. All electrical wires, equipment, or <br /> apparatus within, or on, or attached thereto, which are moved within or <br /> 27 into the City shall comply with the provisions of this Code and all other <br /> applicable laws, codes and ordinances. <br /> 28 <br /> 80-4 ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY AND ASSISTANTS. The Building <br /> 29 Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce all the provisions of <br /> this Code. For such purpose he shall have the powers of a police officer. <br /> 30 In accordance with procedure and with the approval of the chief <br /> appointing authority of the City, the Building Official may appoint such <br /> 31 number of officers, inspectors, and assistants and other employees as may <br /> be necessary to carry out the functions of this Code. <br /> 32 <br />
