' <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the 1985 Editions of the <br /> 3 Uniform Building Code and the Uniform Building Code Standards, <br /> and repealing Ordinance No.'s 724-80 and 315-74. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 6 <br /> Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Building Code." <br /> 7 <br /> Section 2: There is hereby established in the City of Everett, the Building <br /> 8 <br /> Department which shall be under the jurisdiction of the Building Official, designated by <br /> 9 <br /> the Mayor. <br /> 10 <br /> Section 3: The Uniform Building Code (hereinafter referred to as the "UBC") <br /> 11 <br /> with Appendix Chapters 7, 32, 35, 49, and 70 and the Uniform Building Code Standards <br /> 12 <br /> (hereinafter referred to as the "UBCS"), published by the International Conference of <br /> 13 <br /> Building Officials being particularly the 1985 Editions thereof and the whole thereof, <br /> 14 <br /> save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are <br /> 15 <br /> hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length <br /> 16 <br /> herein. <br /> 17 <br /> Section 4: Amendments Made In The Uniform Building Code and the Uniform <br /> 18 <br /> Building Code Standards. <br /> 19 <br /> A. Section 204 of the 1985 Edition of the UBC is hereby amended by <br /> 20 <br /> deleting: <br /> 21 <br /> 22 In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and methods <br /> of construction and to provide for reasonable interpretations of the <br /> 23 provisions of this Code, there shall be and is hereby created a Board of <br /> Appeals, consisting of five members who are qualified by experience and <br /> 24 training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The <br /> Building Official shall be an ex officio member and shall act as Secretary <br /> 25 of the Board. The Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the governing <br /> body and shall hold office at its pleasure. The board shall adopt <br /> 26 reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its investigations and shall <br /> render all decisions and findings in writing to the Building Official with a <br /> 27 duplicate copy to appellant. <br /> 28 <br /> and inserting in its place: <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
