1 Section 41: Meter Requirement--Waived for Low Pressure.
2 A meter shall be installed on all services larger than three-quarter
3 inch; except, in locations where static pressure is less than twenty pounds,
4 a larger unmetered service may be installed upon approval of the Utilities
5 Superintendent.
6 Section 42: Meter Testing--Frequency and Charges.
7 In the event a meter is out of order and fails to register, the
8 consumer shall be charged at the average daily consumption as shown by the
9 meter when in order. Meters in sizes from one-half inch to two inch
10 inclusive, may be removed and tested free of charge to the consumer once
11 every five years, and may be tested more often than once during a five year
12 period upon the written request of the customer and may be tested in his
13 presence in the shops of the Utilities Division and a report thereon duly
14 made. Both the parties to the test must accept the finding so made. If the
15 test discloses an error against the customer of more than three percent in
16 the meter's register, the excess charge during the three previous readings
17 shall be credited to the consumer's account and the Utilities Division shall
18 bear the entire expense of the test and the deposit required as hereinafter
19 prescribed shall be returned. When no such error is found, the person who
20 has requested the test shall forfeit the deposit as a charge for conducting
21 the test. Before making a test of any meter more frequently than the five
22 year period, the person requesting the test shall, at the time of filing his
23 request with the Division, place a deposit with the City Treasurer of the
24 amount charged for such test, subject to the conditions herein stated:
25 A. For testing one-half inch meters to three-quarter inch meters,
26 inclusive - $20; or as set by Council ordinance or resolution.
27 B. For testing one inch meters - $30; or as set by Council ordinance or
resolution.
28 C. For testing two inch meters - $40; or as set by Council ordinance or
29 resolution.
30 D. For the testing of meters larger than the two inch size - the amount of
the deposit shall be estimated at the actual cost of making the test.
31
32
15
