Approved backflow prevention device(s) may be used to protect the <br /> potable water supply from contamination by other sources. <br /> 2 <br /> Section 54: Fire Service for Private Protection Systems. <br /> 3 <br /> The water system shall be made available for private fire protection <br /> 4 <br /> systems not incorporating nor having access to any water supply other than <br /> 5 <br /> through the water system. Such private fire protection systems may include <br /> 6 <br /> automatic sprinkler heads, standpipes, hose racks and connections, inside <br /> 7 <br /> and outside hose outlets and hydrants and such other appurtenances as <br /> 8 <br /> approved by the Utilities Division and the Fire Department. <br /> 9 <br /> Section 55: Application for Fire Service. <br /> 10 <br /> Water shall be supplied for fire protection purposes only after <br /> 11 <br /> application has been made by the customer or his agent and approved by the <br /> 12 <br /> Utilities Division. Sufficient information shall be supplied at the time of <br /> 13 <br /> making application for service to enable the Utilities Superintendent to <br /> 14 <br /> fully determine the nature and extent of the proposed system. The Utilities <br /> 15 <br /> Superintendent shall have the right to refuse to turn on any such service <br /> 16 <br /> until the customer installing such service shall provide to the Utilities <br /> 17 <br /> Division and/or Fire Department a drawing of the system installed which <br /> 18 <br /> contains adequate information showing the locations and sizes of the system <br /> 19 <br /> piping and appurtenances. <br /> 20 <br /> Section 56: Disclaimer of Liability. <br /> 21 <br /> The Utilities Division or the City of Everett is not responsible nor <br /> 22 <br /> liable for any personal injury nor property damage or losses due to fire or <br /> 23 <br /> conflagration by reason of an insufficient quantity of water and/or <br /> 24 <br /> insufficient water pressure or for any reason whatsoever at the time of <br /> 25 <br /> fires or fire alarms or at any other time. Rates established for service <br /> 26 <br /> connections of any type, including fire service connections, are and shall <br /> 27 <br /> always be, conditioned upon the premise that no liability of any nature <br /> 28 <br /> whatsoever shall attach to the Utilities Division by reason of failure of <br /> 29 <br /> water quantity or water pressure. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 20 <br />
