SHANNON NWIL.SON,INC,
within 24 hours of the survey being taken. Maximum structural displacement criteria of the ,
wharf should be determined by MN. Excess displacements may require the contractor to modify
their means and methods of construction.
7.3 Plans Review and Construction Observation
At the time of this report, Shannon&Wilson, Inc. has been engaged in the review of the design '
plans and specifications for the work described in this report. We recommend that Shannon&
Wilson, Inc. continue to be retained to review those portions of the plans and specifications that
pertain to the wharf upgrade,to determine if they are consistent with our recommendations. We
recommend that we be retained to observe the geotechnical aspects of construction, including the
pile installation,to provide a geotechnical evaluation of whether the work is accomplished in I
accordance with the plans, specifications and our recommendations and that subsurface
conditions inferred by pile driving logs are representative of the assumed subsurface conditions
in this report.
8.0 LIMITATIONS
The analyses, conclusions, and recommendations contained in this report are based upon site
conditions as they presently exist, and further assume that the explorations arc representative of
the subsurface conditions within the proposed retrofit area. The primary assumption is that the
subsurface conditions everywhere are not significantly different from those disclosed by the
explorations. Within the limitations of the scope, schedule, and budget, the analyses, ,
conclusions, and recommendations presented in this report were prepared in accordance with
generally accepted professional geotechnical engineering principles and practice in this area at
the time this report was prepared. We make no other warranty, either express or implied. Our
conclusions and recommendations were based on our understanding of the project as described
in this report and the site conditions as interpreted from the explorations. I
If, during construction, subsurface conditions different from those encountered in the field
explorations are observed or appear to be present during excavations and pile installation,we i
should be advised at once so that we can review these conditions and reconsider our
recommendations where necessary. If there is substantial lapse of time between the submission
of this report and the start of work at the site, or if conditions have changed due to natural causes
or construction operations at or adjacent to the site,we recommend that we review our report for
the applicability of our recommendations considering the changed conditions and time lapse.
