' 40-27 BUILDING
BELOW -GRADE WATERPROOFING
BRPH ARCHITECTS -ENGINEERS, INC.
1. Place the membrane HDPE film side to the substrate with the clear plastic
release liner facing towards the concrete pour. End laps should be staggered to
avoid a build-up of layers.
2. Leave the plastic release liner in position until overlap procedure is completed.
3. Accurately position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous sheet 3 in. (75
mm) along the marked selvedge. Ensure the underside of the succeeding sheet
is clean, dry and free from contamination before attempting to overlap.
4. Peel back the plastic release liner from between the overlaps as the two layers
are bonded together. Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and
roll firmly with a heavy roller.
5. Completely remove the plastic liner to expose the protective coating. Any initial
tack will quickly disappear.
B. When ambient and substrate temperatures range between 25 and 55 deg F, install
detail tape designed for low -temperature application at all laps and detailing. Apply
detail tape to clean dry surfaces. During cold or damp conditions, warm the membrane
selvedge and detail tape using a hot air gun to remove moisture and improve initial
adhesion.
' C. Corners: Seal lapped terminations and cut edges of sheet waterproofing at inside and
outside corners with detail tape.
tD.
Seal penetrations through sheet waterproofing to provide watertight seal with
prefabricated plastic covers, or detail tape patches or wraps and a liquid -membrane
troweling as recommended by membrane manufacturer.
'
E.
Construction Joints: Apply 8-inch joint tape to the surface of the membrane and
centered along the line of all horizontal and vertical concrete pour joints.
'
F.
Install sheet waterproofing and auxiliary materials to produce a continuous watertight
tie into adjacent waterproofing.
'
G.
Repair tears, voids, and lapped seams in waterproofing not complying with
requirements. Tape perimeter of damaged or nonconforming area extending 6 inches
'
beyond repaired areas in all directions. Apply a patch of sheet waterproofing and firmly
secure with detail tape.
H.
Correct deficiencies in or remove waterproofing that does not comply with
requirements; repair substrates, reapply waterproofing, and repair sheet flashings.
I.
Protect membrane in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations until
'
placement of concrete. Inspect for damage just prior to placement of concrete and
make repairs in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
C06922.001.00
071410-9
05-22-14
