RESOLUTION 6570-A <br /> A RESOLUTION RENAMING CITY HALL <br /> "THE WILLIAM E. MOORE HISTORIC CITY HALL" <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore served with distinction as Mayor of the City of Everett from 1977 to <br /> 1990; and <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore was first elected to the Everett City Council serving as the Council's <br /> first President when the mayor-council form of government was established in 1969 then elected as <br /> Mayor in 1977 serving in that position in City Hall for 12 years, being the only Mayor to have ever <br /> served that long; and <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore known as a "bricks and mortar" Mayor was concerned with <br /> infrastructure of Everett, and worked to assure the city's health in perpetuity; and <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore was instrumental in revitalizing Everett's economy, the <br /> transformation of public works projects, enlarging the police department, clean up of Silver Lake and <br /> the Snohomish River and strengthening the framework that makes the city run; and <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore, an outspoken patriot saw to it that a war memorial to Everett <br /> citizens was placed in front of City Hall during the 1980s where it still stands today; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that the City Hall bear the name of William E. Moore, in <br /> recognition of his outstanding and remarkable leadership giving Everett stability and growth and serving <br /> the citizens of Everett for 3 terms; and <br /> WHEREAS, William E. Moore provided visionary leadership that resulted in the creation of the <br /> Naval Station Everett, working closely with the late Sen. Henry M. (Scoop) Jackson, because he clearly <br /> understood the Navy would be good for Everett and Everett would be good for the Navy; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council conducted a public hearing on December 19, 2012 and approved <br /> the formalization of their action by this resolution; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that: <br /> The City Hall shall be hereafter named the: <br /> "THE WILLIAM E.
