EXHIBIT L 4
FAZE !OF V
June 24, 2011
I-Ion. Ray Stephanson,Mayor
City of Everett
2930 Wetmore, Suite 10-A
Everett, WA 98201
RE: William E. Moore Commemoration
Dear Mayor Stephanson:
This letter is submitted to you on behalf of the undersigned individuals who worked with
William E. ("Bill")Moore in his capacity as Mayor, Councilman and/or community leader. The
purpose of this communication is to request that you initiate the process for naming a city facility
in Bill's name. _
We don't make this request lightly. This commemoration for Bill is deserved for more
than time in service. While Mayor Moore is recognized for his effective leadership and passion
in advocating for Naval Station Everett, we also believe that Bill provided an outstanding
commitment focusing on infrastructure that is an integral part of the City that we have today and
one that will continue to benefit Everett into the future. Southwest Everett today, a regional
employment center for 36,500 people, was developed as a result of the infrastructure that was
constructed under Bill Moore's vision. That is a significant compliment to a Mayor who left
office 21 years ago.
We believe that the list of accomplishments that Bill either achieved during his terms as
Mayor or initiated that later became accomplished is impressive and extensive. His ability to
work with the City Council and the community leaders to assure the success of those significant
undertakings speaks well of Bill's vision and resolve.
Mayor Bill Moore understood that even during difficult times, a great City could develop
on the strength of having infrastructure in place to provide the foundation for a strong economy,
new employment and job retention. In some measure,we owe the quality of life we enjoy today
to sound initiatives begun by Mayor Moore. We believe Bill should be appropriately recognized
for his many contributions to the City of Everett. A list of some of these contributions is
enclosed with this letter.
It is our request that old City Hall be formally designated "The William E. Moore
Historic City Hall". Respectfully, we would request that you, in consultation with your Staff
and the City Council initiate the procedure for commemoratively naming of this City facility
after Bill Moore.
Thank you for your consideration.
