Utility Crossings: Avoid horizontal and vertical conflicts with existing utilities. <br /> 1. Perform excavation within 24 inches of existing utility service in accordance with <br /> Iutility's requirements. <br /> 2. Vertical clearance between the newPiPexisting e and utilities shall be 12 inches <br /> minimum,unless otherwise noted on the Drawings. <br /> I3. Where existing utility lines are damaged or broken during trenching activities, the utility <br /> shall be repaired or replaced. All expenses involved in the repair or replacement of leaking or broken utility lines that <br /> I have occurred due to the Contractor's operations shall be borne by the Contractor, and <br /> the amount thereof shall be absorbed in the unit prices of its bid. <br /> I E. Water Lines Crossing Sewer Lines: Whenever water lines cross sewer lines,the Contractor <br /> shall comply with local Health Department requirements. <br /> 1. Wherever possible,the bottom of the water line shall be 18 inches or more above the top <br /> Iof sewer pipe. One full length of the water line pipe shall be centered at the crossing. <br /> 2. For clearances less than 1.5 feet,the Contractor shall replace the existing sewer pipe with <br /> I ductile iron or PVC of equal size,centered at the utility crossing, or shall encase existing <br /> sewer pipe with concrete for a minimum of 10 feet on both sides of crossing, as directed <br /> by the Engineer, at no additional cost to the Owner. <br /> IF. Excavate trenches to width and depth as indicated on Drawings. No additional payment will <br /> be provided for trenching activities beyond dimensions shown in the Drawings. <br /> 1 1. Excavation for trenches in which pipelines are to be installed shall provide adequate <br /> space for workers to place and joint the pipe properly and safely,but in every case the <br /> trench shall be kept to a minimum width. <br /> I2. The width of the pipe trench at and below the top of the pipe shall be such that the clear <br /> space between the barrel of the pipe and the trench shall not exceed 12 inches on either <br /> Iside of the pipe. <br /> 3. Excavation for utility vaults and other structures shall be wide enough to provide 18 <br /> Iinches between the structure surface and the sides of the excavation. <br /> 4. For pipe or utility vaults to have bedding material,excavate to a depth of 6 inches below <br /> I the bottom of the pipe or utility vault.
