80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which additions, <br /> alterations or repairs are made to electrical system, including any and all electrical <br /> wires, services, equipment and apparatus shall comply with all the requirements <br /> for new work in buildings and structures as set forth in this Code except as <br /> specifically provided for in this section. <br /> (a) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 11 shall take <br /> precedence. <br /> 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus shall be <br /> maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which are required by <br /> this Code in a building, sign or structure when erected, altered or repaired shall be <br /> maintained in a safe and good working order. The owner or his agent shall be <br /> responsible for the maintenance of all such electrical wiring, equipment and <br /> apparatus. <br /> 80-3 MOVED BUILDINGS. All electrical wires, equipment, or apparatus within <br /> or on, or attached thereto, which are moved within or into the City shall comply <br /> with the provisions of this Code and all other applicable laws, codes and <br /> ordinances. <br /> 80-4 ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY AND ASSISTANTS. The Building <br /> Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce all the provisions of this <br /> Code. For such purpose he/she shall have the powers of a police officer. In <br /> accordance with procedure and with the approval of the chief appointing authority <br /> of the City, the Building Official may appoint such number of officers, inspectors <br /> and assistants and other employees as may be necessary to carry out the functions <br /> of this Code. <br /> 80-5 RIGHT-OF-ENTRY. Whenever necessary to make an inspection to enforce <br /> any of the provisions of this Code, or whenever the Building Official or his/her <br /> authorized representative has reasonable cause to believe that there exists in any <br /> building or upon any premises any condition or code violation which makes such <br /> building or premises unsafe, dangerous or hazardous, the Building Official or <br /> his/her authorized representative may eater such building or premises at all <br /> reasonable times to inspect the same or to perform any duty imposed upon the <br /> Building Official by this Code,provided that if such building or premises be <br /> occupied, he/she shall first present proper credentials and request entry; and if <br /> such building or premises be unoccupied, he shall first make a reasonable effort to <br /> locate the owner or other persons having charge or control of the building or <br /> premises and request entry. If such entry is refused, the Building Official or <br /> his/her authorized representative shall have recourse to every remedy provided by <br /> law to secure entry. <br /> When the Building Official or his/her authorized representative shall have first <br /> obtained a proper inspection warrant or other remedy provided by law to secure <br /> entry, no owner or occupant or any other persons having charge, care or control of <br /> any building or premises shall fail or neglect, after proper request is made as <br /> herein provided, to promptly permit entry therein by the Building Official or <br /> his/her authorized representative for the purpose of inspection and examination <br /> pursuant to this Code. <br /> -2- <br />
