I appreciate your
interest in this planning process.
I want to clarify that the Planning Commission is not considering approval of a specific site for a methadone clinic. The
Planning Commission is considering an amendment to the zoning code to 1) allow a second opiate substitution
treatment facility(OSTF)in the city; and 2)determine which zone or zones and areas should be included as appropriate
to allow this use. The City had originally proposed to allow a second OSTF within the BMU (Broadway Mixed Use)zone,
north of 24th Street. The Planning Commission asked staff to add the B-3 (Central Business District) as a potential area
for locating a second OSTF. The Planning Commission does not have a role in the process for approving a specific
location for this use,or a specific provider for this service. The Planning Commission's role is to recommend to the City
Council the zones in which an OSTF should be allowed.
We will add you to the notification list for this code amendment so you will receive notice of future planning commission
meetings for this subject.
Allan Giffen
Planning Director
From:Robin Maberry [mailto:maberrvr@uw.edu]
Sent:Thursday,June 22,2017 2:12 PM
To:David Stalheim <DStalheim@everettwa.gov>
Subject:THS/TRASK METHADONE Site
Dear Planners and Planning Commissioners:
1
Exhibit 2 -page 6
