Public Works <br /> Vicinity Map <br /> Amount Budgeted $ 711,300 <br /> Expenditure Required $ 711,300 Account Number(s): PW3668 <br /> Budget Remaining -0- <br /> Additional Required -0- <br /> DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: <br /> The Washington State Department of Transportation(WSDOT)provides federal safety grant funding from <br /> the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP)for selected projects that are anticipated to improve safety. <br /> This project will install flashing yellow arrows at selected intersections throughout Everett so that the <br /> intersections can operate in protected-only left turn mode during periods of high volume,and permissive left <br /> turn mode during periods of lower volume. This change to signal operation is anticipated to improve safety <br /> and reduce delay at the selected intersections. At other locations the project will install ADA compliant <br /> accessible pedestrian WALK signals to improve pedestrian safety. Additionally, all locations will have retro- <br /> reflective tape installed on existing backplates to increase the visibility of the traffic signal heads. <br /> The budget for this project is$711,300 and the sources funds are: <br /> Federal Grant(HSIP) $640,170 <br /> Fund 119—Street Improvements 71,130 <br /> Total Funds $711,300 <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled Citywide Innovative Safety Project, at a <br /> cost of$71,130.00 to the City. 35 <br />
