March 16, 2016 <br /> attendance at the GLOBE Leadership Summit for Sustainable Business <br /> held in Vancouver, Canada. Council Member Roberts spoke about his <br /> participation at the National League of Cities conference last week in <br /> Washington, D.C. <br /> Council Member Tuohy provided a liaison report on her attendance at the <br /> Library Board meeting last evening. She also asked the Council Budget <br /> and Finance Subcommittee to work with City staff to develop a three-tier <br /> assessment for annual business license renewal fee structure as a way to <br /> promote small businesses. <br /> Council Members Franklin, Moore and Murphy supported Council Member <br /> Tuohy's proposal. <br /> Council Member Moore stated that this topic will be included on the <br /> Budget and Finance Subcommittee meeting agenda on April 6, 2016, and <br /> asked City staff to provide a recap on current City of Everett's practices <br /> and information about processes adopted by other cities. <br /> Council Member Murphy provided a recap of the Council Retreat held on <br /> January 23, 2016. He also reported on his attendance at the National <br /> League of Cities conference held last week in Washington, DC. Council <br /> Member Murphy stated that he was able to thank Senator Murray for her <br /> support in securing a significant portion of the funding for the Broadway <br /> Bridge project and invited her to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be <br /> scheduled this spring. <br /> ADMINISTRATION UPDATE ON PRIOR BUSINESS <br /> Debra Bryant, Administration, had no report. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Iles had no comments. <br /> 87 <br />
