Dawson Place CAC would apply the Everett Human Needs funds toward the management of the Dawson
Place CAC operations, and the coordination of the county-wide Multidisciplinary Team meetings(MDTs).
Program Components and Structure:
Dawson Place is a single location where ALL the services for child abuse victims are available: medical and
mental health care, forensic interviews, victim advocacy, protective services, law enforcement, and prosecution
services. These services are provided at Dawson Place by:
• Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse (victim advocacy& medical)
• Compass Health Child Advocacy Program (mental health therapy)
• Child Protective Services (child safety monitoring and investigations)
• Snohomish County Sheriffs Special Investigation Unit(child abuse cases)
• Snohomish County Prosecutor's Special Assault Unit(child abuse/sexual assault cases)
• Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center(child forensic interviews &service coordination)
Housing all the services at one location promotes collaboration, facilitates access to services, and creates
efficiencies that extend funding. A single location also diminishes the trauma for the children and families, and
increases the likelihood that they follow through on appointments and ongoing therapy. Dawson Place owns
the building, coordinates inter-agency services, performs child forensic interviews, manages the facility, raises
funds, and conducts community outreach.
Dawson Place and our five partner agencies employ 45-55 professionals dedicated to protecting and healing
child abuse victims. Only 4.65 FTE are paid for by the$862K operations budget ending June 2018: Executive
Director(.65 FTE), child interview specialists (2.0 FTE), office manager(0.8 FTE), office assistant(0.2 FTE),
and Director of Development(1.0 FTE).
Dawson Place is a small nonprofit located in Everett that guides a large force in Snohomish County. We
leverage the staff and programs installed in our partner organizations and integrate their collective effort to
maximize impact on our community. In fact, Dawson Place serves 20% of the child abuse victims in the State
of Washington who are treated at the 15 accredited Child Advocacy Centers. Dawson Place helps families with
abused children by providing a single child-focused location to stop the hurt, seek justice, and begin the healing
process.
Dawson Place Clientele: Target Population
Dawson Place serves any child victim of felony level sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect, drug endangerment,
and/or witness to violent crimes. We serve children aged 0-18 years of age,and can extend therapy to the age of
twenty-two.Our Center provides ALL the core services available to child abuse victims and their non-offending
family members in Snohomish County at no charge. Our Center has averaged 1,140 clients annually over the last
five years;about 22 new kids per week.
