Page I of 2 <br />State of Washington Class Specification <br />Salary Rai 9, 10E <br />MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 1, BRIDGE <br />597F <br />Definition <br />Performs skilled construction trades tasks In the mairlenance. reconstruction and repair of bridges. <br />Distinguishing Characleristi.s <br />Posilions allocated to this dassigcat on may to distinguished by varied assignments assisting <br />Maintenance Technician 2, Bridge on floating bridges or independent assignments on nonjoumey <br />level tasks on District crew. <br />Incumbents In these positions do not independenfly perforin the full range of duties normally expected <br />of a joimeyaevel worker. <br />Positions In this class are assigned full time to a bridge mantenance crew. <br />Typical Work <br />On steel structures, assists In the heat straightening repairs or damaged steel railings and members <br />and fabrication of steel replacement members: makes deck and sidewalk repars; deans and paints <br />steel; assists in repaint to expansion joints; <br />On concrete structures. repairs railings, sidewalks, decks. columns. piers and bulkheads; builds forms <br />and pours concrete: assists In repairs to expansion joints; <br />On wood structures, repairs railings. sidewalks, decks. wheel rails and bulkheads; drives piling and <br />installs false work and bents. <br />On moveable span structures, performs same work as on steel structures and also Inspects. <br />maintains and repairs electric motors. switches, controls and signal equipment; assists in the <br />replacement of shahs and hearings; lubricates gears, bearings and other mechanical units; replaces <br />and adjusts lift and pull down cables; <br />On Boating structures. renown and replaces vesical and horizontal minions: sets up hydraulic jacks <br />for anchor cable tension readings: makes deck and rail repairs; performs emergency repairs following <br />slorms; <br />Performs trade skill work in construction and repair of buildings and other structures: <br />Uses various hand and power tools including gas, decide and air; <br />Operates Class A highway equipment in snow and Ice control and in support of bridge maintenance <br />activities'. <br />Maintains good pudic relations and safety predices; <br />Performa other related work as required. <br />Legal Requimmentjs) <br />A valid drivers license is required. <br />There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It Is <br />the employers responsibilily to ensue the appropnate licensesmcer ificalions are obtained for eeeh <br />position. <br />Desirable Qualifications <br />Graduation from high school or possession or a GED certificate. <br />AND <br />Two years as a Maintenance Technician t or two years of experience in tht heavy construction field <br />which includes carpentry, wncrete, steel fabrication, electrical or millwnght experience. <br />Equivalent educationlexpenence. <br />Notes: <br />.
