1 Any driver of a taxicab employed to carry passengers to a definite point shall make the most direct route possible that will carry the 2 passengers safely and expeditiously to their destination. 3 Section 5: That Section 26 of Ordinance No. 779-81 (EMC 5.68.280) reads as 4 follows: 5 6 SERVICE REQUIREMENTS. All persons engaged in the vehicle for hire business in the City operating under the provisions of this chapter 7 shall render an overall service to the public desiring to use their specified vehicle for hire be it a taxicab or limousine as the case may be. Holder 8 of licenses shall maintain a place of business and keep the same open for twenty-four hours a day for the purpose of receiving calls and dispatching 9 vehicles. They shall answer all calls received by them for services inside the corporate limits of the City as soon as they can do so and if said 10 services cannot be rendered within a reasonable time, they shall then notify the prospective passengers how long it will be before the said call 11 can be answered and give the reason therefor. 12 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 13 14 SERVICE REQUIREMENTS. The City Council may by resolution or 23 ordinance upon the recommendation of the City's Traffic Engineer establish taxicab stands within the City. The areas so established by the 24 City Council as taxicab stands shall be identified, and the hours and times said areas may be occupied by for-hire vehicles shall be specified in the 25 ordinance or resolution establishing such areas. 26 The fee for the right to use said taxicab stands shall be charged in accordance with Section 7 of this ordinance. 27 28 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 29 TAXICAB STANDS.
