1 Any driver of a taxicab employed to carry passengers to a definite <br /> point shall make the most direct route possible that will carry the <br /> 2 passengers safely and expeditiously to their destination. <br /> 3 <br /> Section 5: That Section 26 of Ordinance No. 779-81 (EMC 5.68.280) reads as <br /> 4 <br /> follows: <br /> 5 <br /> 6 SERVICE REQUIREMENTS. All persons engaged in the vehicle <br /> for hire business in the City operating under the provisions of this chapter <br /> 7 shall render an overall service to the public desiring to use their specified <br /> vehicle for hire be it a taxicab or limousine as the case may be. Holder <br /> 8 of licenses shall maintain a place of business and keep the same open for <br /> twenty-four hours a day for the purpose of receiving calls and dispatching <br /> 9 vehicles. They shall answer all calls received by them for services inside <br /> the corporate limits of the City as soon as they can do so and if said <br /> 10 services cannot be rendered within a reasonable time, they shall then <br /> notify the prospective passengers how long it will be before the said call <br /> 11 can be answered and give the reason therefor. <br /> 12 <br /> be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 13 <br /> 14 SERVICE REQUIREMENTS. The City Council may by resolution or <br /> 23 ordinance upon the recommendation of the City's Traffic Engineer <br /> establish taxicab stands within the City. The areas so established by the <br /> 24 City Council as taxicab stands shall be identified, and the hours and times <br /> said areas may be occupied by for-hire vehicles shall be specified in the <br /> 25 ordinance or resolution establishing such areas. <br /> 26 The fee for the right to use said taxicab stands shall be charged in <br /> accordance with Section 7 of this ordinance. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 29 <br /> TAXICAB STANDS.
