ORDINANCE NO. 7b-g? <br /> AN ORDINANCE of the City of Everett, Washington, <br /> providing for the submission to the qualified <br /> electors of the City at a special election to <br /> be held therein on November 8 , 1983 , of a <br /> proposition regarding the issuance by the <br /> City of its general obligation bonds in the <br /> aggregate principal amount of not to exceed <br /> $9 ,000 ,000 for the purpose of providing part <br /> of the funds for a Henry M. Jackson Center in <br /> the City for civic, cultural, conference and <br /> library uses. <br /> WHEREAS, the life and career of Senator Henry M. Jackson is <br /> a source of profound inspiration for the citizens of the City of <br /> Everett, Washington (the "City" ) ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the officers of the City wish to provide the <br /> citizens an opportunity to express their affection and admiration <br /> for Senator Henry M. Jackson; and <br /> WHEREAS , the City is working with other public and private <br /> groups and individuals having the same regard for the late <br /> Senator to provide funds for the creation of a cultural and <br /> conference center dedicated to his memory (the "Henry M. Jackson <br /> Center") which will be placed in the service of the City, the <br /> State of Washington, the United States of America , and their <br /> friends and allies to further the arts , humanities and the social <br /> and governmental sciences; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Henry M. Jackson Center will provide the City <br /> of Everett with a prestigious and lasting civic facility for all; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to provide funds necessary to pay part of <br /> the cost of the Henry M. Jackson Center it is deemed necessary <br /> and advisable that the City issue and sell its unlimited tax <br /> general obligation bonds in the aggregate principal amount of not <br /> to exceed $9 ,000 ,000; and <br />
