1 6-09.3(15) Sealing and Texturing Concrete Overlay <br /> 2 After the requirements for checking for bond have been met, all joints and visible cracks <br /> 3 shall be filled and sealed with a high molecular weight methacrylate resin (HMWM). The <br /> 4 Contractor may use compressed air to accelerate drying of the deck surface for crack <br /> 5 identification and sealing. Cracks 1/16 inch and greater in width shall receive two <br /> 6 applications of HMWM. Immediately following the application of HMWM, the wetted <br /> 7 surface shall be coated with sand for abrasive finish. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 After all cracks have been filled and sealed and the HMWM resin has cured, the <br /> 10 concrete overlay surface shall receive a longitudinally sawn texture in accordance with <br /> 11 Section 6-02.3(10)05. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Traffic shall not be permitted on the finished concrete until it has reached a minimum <br /> 14 compressive strength of 3,000 psi as verified by rebound number determined in <br /> 15 accordance with ASTM C805 and the longitudinally sawn texture is completed. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 6-09.3(1)B Rotary Milling Machines <br /> 18 This section is revised to read: <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Rotary milling machines used to remove an upper layer of existing concrete overlay, <br /> 21 when present, shall have a maximum operating weight of 50,000 pounds and conform <br /> 22 to Section 6-08.3(5)B.
