Project: WFP Operations Building Seismic Retrofit-Rebid
Change Order No.003
Change Order Effective Date: 1/25/18
Revised 2/14/18
008, any gap larger than 1/16" required a steel shim to be installed in the gap and
welded to the structural angle. The ceiling elevation variance was not shown in the
contract drawings or the record drawings. This work change directive covers the
additional cost to measure the gaps, provide the steel shims, weld the shims to the angle
and then paint the shims.
Work Change Directive—No. 016 Install Bent Plate Above Roll Up Door on First
Floor— Gridline D: WCD-016 is a lump sum revision of$8,513.00. WCD-016 did not
add working days.
Justification: The roll up door, on the east side of the Operations Building, was too
close to the ceiling to allow the installation of the per plan angle between the wall and
ceiling. Physically, the angle could fit above the door. However, there wasn't sufficient
room for the equipment and tools needed to install the angle. The removal of existing
equipment, conflicting with the new seismic upgrades, was the responsibility of City
forces. City forces had removed all existing equipment that has been identified in the
contract plans. However, the roll up door was not called out for removal in the plans. At
the time of the angle installation, City forces were assigned other time sensitive projects
and could not remove the door. The City's Contractor formulated a plan to drill the
anchor bolt holes for the angle from the floor above the angle, alleviating the need to
remove the roll up door. Due to existing reinforcing in the floor above the door, the
holes for the anchor bolts for the per plan angle could not be drilled without damaging
the reinforcing steel. The City's Engineer designed a new angle constructed from a bent
plate. This work change directive covers the additional costs to fabricate a new angle,
install additional splices and install the angle from the floor above.
Contract Time:
Twenty-six, (26) Working Days are being added to the contract by change order#3.
END DOCUMENT 006363
WFP Operations Building Seismic Retrofit-Rebid January 25,2018
WO#UP3600 006363 -6
