d702'1'Glenha•en Dri-e G10,Snohomish County,Washiugtom Mate•ials Testing R Consulting,Tnc.
Jul 3l, 2017 1t,I303O
documented as observed in order to assess general site and slope stability as well as look for signs of
local instability of an erosional or subsurface nature currently or in the past. The site slopes were densely
vegetated at the time of our site visit. Slope characteristics were observed and measurements were
compared to existing topographic maps of the site, as available. Surface profile of the slope was
interpreted based on approximate in-field measurements.
MTC advanced three Wildcat Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests to depths up to appro.imately 5
feet maximum below present grade (BPG) at representative locations within the project area to document
in-situ soil strength. Penetrometer tests were terminated upon reaching practical refusal depth on very
dense or hard conditions. During penetrometer advancement, blow counts were recorded in 10 centimeter
increments as a thirty-five-pound weight was droppd a distance of 15 inches. Blow counts were then
converted to resistance (kg/cm), standard penetration blow counts (N-values), and eorresponding soil
consistency, with complete results shown on the attached logs. Direct observations of soils, where
exposed by erosion or local cuts, were used to supplement interpretation of DCP data. To confirm soil
conditions, a supplemental hand auger was advanced at the crest of the slope on the north side of the
propertV
A location and vicinity map is provided as Figure 1, Appendix A1. Exploration locations are shown
schematically on the attached site map in Figure 2, Appendix A2. ?ypical measured or estimated slope
conditions are shown schelnatically on the attached topographic profile in Figure 3, Appendix A3. Site
photographs taken during our investigation and complte exploration results are presented in Appendices
B and C, respectively.
Surface and.Slope Conditions:
The project site consists of the existing residence and riveway on the south half of the property, and the
undeveloped slope face eatending to the north proprty line. The project site is in an urban area of
Everett, at the end of a cul-de-sac on W Glenhaven L)rive. Residences of similar size and nature as the
subject home exist to the east, west and north of the project site. The residence is located near the top of a
regional slope, approximately 40 feet in elevation above mean sea level at the existing residence and cul-
de-sac. The Snohomish County Assessor's office desinates the project site as parcel 004567000014003,
having an approximate area of 0.38 acres. The propert surroundings appear generally forested along the
slopes, and clear near roadways and existing residences. Multiple, large, forested tracts of land remain
unworked running north to south in the project site vicinity and beyond.
The project site generally sloped to the north, except for the driveway, and becomes gradually more steep
approaching the top edge of a regional slope behind the existing residence. Site slopes were generally
observed to be densely vegetated and relatively undisturbed, with large trees, shrubs and flowering
2
