1.0 General Requirements <br /> The container sub-assemblies will be constructed by the buyer and will have the following <br /> general operational requirements. <br /> 1.1 Operational Description <br /> The container will be designed and constructed for the storage and transportation of general <br /> cargo and will be suitable for the environmental conditions imposed herein. <br /> 1.1.1 Operational Environment <br /> All materials used in the construction will be able to withstand extremes of temperature range <br /> from-20°C(-4°F)to 60°C(140°F)without detrimental effect on the containers'operational <br /> effectiveness. <br /> 1.2 Handling <br /> Each container will be constructed to be capable of being handled without any permanent <br /> deformation that will render it unsuitable for use or any abnormality under the following <br /> conditions. <br /> 1.2.1 Forklift <br /> Lifting full or empty, at a pair of forklift pockets,with the appropriate forklift truck. <br /> 1.2.2 "Podzilla" <br /> Lifting, laden or empty, from the "Podzilla" apertures vertically by means of slings with <br /> hooks, shackles. <br /> 1.3 Transportation <br /> The container will be constructed as to be suitable for transportation (full or empty) in <br /> the following modes without any permanent deformation that will render it unsuitable <br /> for use. <br /> 1.3.1 Road Transportability <br /> On flatbed chassis or PODS delivery vehicle,to be secured at the four bottom corner fittings. <br /> 1.3.2 Rail Transportability <br /> On flat cars or inside ISO containers,to be secured by railroad approved lashing. <br /> 1.4 Standards and Regulations <br /> The container shall be designed, manufactured, and tested in accordance to the latest <br /> requirements of the following standards and regulations, unless otherwise mentioned in this <br /> specification. <br /> 1.4.1 Welding <br /> All welding shall be in accordance with AWS D1.1:2008 and AWS D1.6:1999 (American <br /> Welding Society)for statically loaded non-tubular connections. All internal structural welds(to <br /> tube and corner castings)and external welds are to be continuously welded. Weld size and <br /> thickness shall meet acceptable AWS and structural standards. Welds shall be free of cracks, <br /> undercuts,burn-through, splatter,lack of penetration, voids and porosity. <br /> pods containers seismic and combustibles.docx Page 8 of 19 <br />
