PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK
Project began August 2017, completes on April 28, 2018 _
For the second year, Quality Sewing &Vacuum, is our industry sponsor. An Everett
business that is part of a chain of 12 stores in Washington. This gives credibility to our efforts,
as Quality has been in business for over 30 years and is well known for its products and
services. Quality will be lending us eight basic sewing machines for the Make it&Take it -/ LJ
project area and providing 6 long-arm machines (specialty quilting machines)for high level " & VP'
classes.
What we will do:
The Everett Quilt Show: "Reflections of a Quilter"(EQS)is an event intended to honor quilters and celebrate
the work they do, while educating the public on the art and skills of quilting.
We are encouraging an extended stay by designing events that bridge several days. Our website offers hotel,
restaurant and other attraction information, with links to their websites. We have secured client workspace in the hotels
for weekend retreat ideas.
This event has several unique components that will attract a variety of guests:
• Thursday Opening Night Gala, where guests will see exclusive presentations by individual quiltmakers
describing their techniques and work. Hors d'oeuvres, decadent desserts and dulcimer music played by the
Mountain Dulcimer Club of Bellingham will enhance this event.
• The Everett Quilt Show will be open Friday and Saturday from 10:00-5:00, view quilts, participate and listen to
demonstrations, attend classes and shopping at our Stitches Marketplace with an intentional variety of
vendors.
• Friday night Keynote Speaker: Caryl Breyer Fallert-Gentry: Caryl is an internationally known award winning
quilter from Port Townsend, WA. She is a Silver Star award winner, has a quilt named in the Top 100 Quilts of
the 20th Century and has won multiple top awards in major international competitions. Due to expansion of the
quilt display areas, this event will be at the luxurious PUD auditorium.
• Book signing opportunities with authors of quilt related books. Geared to attract guests during the afternoon
when attendance slows down, guests can then head to a restaurant for dinner and attend an evening event.
• Paid classes and free demonstrations will taught by experienced and highly notable teachers, students will
learn new techniques or join in the"Make it&Take it"opportunities.
• Community Service Projects explained and shared. Our donations currently go to the Domestic Violence
Services of Snohomish County.
• Children's activities include a scavenger hunt, making a Bean Bag, or making a mug rug. There will be
opportunities for children to attend some classes for free.
• Open call for entries allows people, who are not members of our guild, the opportunity to display their art.
Entries can be in a judged or non judge category. Judged entries receive feedback.
Measures:
Project success will be measured by
1. Attendance numbers, ticket sales to our evening events, vendor sales and number of students in classes.
2. Our registration software will track guests zip code so we can gauge our out of town appeal.
3. We will follow up with the hotels involved to give us their numbers for overnight stays
4. We will creatively survey our guests within our viewers choice ballots.
These numbers and feedback cues will be key to providing adequate event enhancements for our future events.
