• <br /> • <br /> 1 Chief of Police or his designee shall be permanently affixed to the vehicle <br /> for hire by the Chief of Police or his designee to serve as proof of <br /> 2 compliance with the requirements of this ordinance. Such indicia shall <br /> bear on it an identifying number from which the number of the vehicle for <br /> 3 hire as assigned by the holder will be obtained and made identical. <br /> 4 No person shall operate a vehicle for hire in the City and no person <br /> who owns or controls such vehicle for hire shall permit it to be so driven <br /> 5 at any time unless the license indicia as required by this section has been <br /> affixed to said vehicle for hire by the Chief of Police or his designee. <br /> 6 <br /> Whenever license indicia is lost, stolen or destroyed, new indicia <br /> 7 may be issued upon the payment of a replacement fee of fifty dollars <br /> ($50) and the filing of an affidavit of loss. If the original license indicia is <br /> 8 recovered, it shall be returned to the Chief of Police or his designee <br /> promptly. Failure to comply with the provisions of this section shall <br /> 9 constitute a violation of this chapter. <br /> 10 <br /> Section 4: Section 20 of Ordinance No. 779-81 which reads as follows: <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Section 20: POSTING OF SCHEDULE OF FARES. The owner <br /> of every for-hire vehicle shall cause to be posted and maintained in a <br /> 13 conspicuous location in the passenger's compartment of said vehicle a <br /> card or form, size and color approved by the City Clerk, on which shall be <br /> 14 shown a schedule of rates of fare charged by said owner, which rates shall <br /> not be in excess of amounts fixed by this title. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 17 <br /> Section 20: POSTING OF SCHEDULE OF FARES. <br /> 18 <br /> A. INTERIOR OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE. The owner of every <br /> 19 for-hire vehicle shall cause to be posted and maintained in a conspicuous <br /> location in the passenger's compartment of said vehicle a card of form, <br /> 20 size and color approved by the Everett Director of Weights and <br /> Measurers, on which shall be shown a schedule of rates of fare charged by <br /> 21 said owner, which rates shall not be in excess of amounts fixed by this <br /> title. <br /> 22 <br /> B. EXTERIOR OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE. A permanently <br /> 23 affixed sign indicating the rates as set forth in Section 19 of this <br /> ordinance shall be posted on both sides of the vehicle and be readable <br /> 24 from the side of the vehicle. The sign shall be located on the upper half <br /> of the body, below the window line affixed to the rear door; or when <br /> 25 unavailable, placed immediately adjacent to the rear door. The lettering <br /> shall be no smaller than 3/4" except for 1/2" minimum for "cents" rates, <br /> 26 and shall be on a contrasting background. <br /> 27 The City of Everett Director of Weights and Measures shall have <br /> available examples of such posting requirements indicating the allowable <br /> 28 format and content of the signs and cards as required by this section. <br /> 29 <br /> Section 5: A new section shall be added to Ordinance No. 779-81 which reads as <br /> 30 <br /> follows: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -4- <br />
