• • 1 Chief of Police or his designee shall be permanently affixed to the vehicle for hire by the Chief of Police or his designee to serve as proof of 2 compliance with the requirements of this ordinance. Such indicia shall bear on it an identifying number from which the number of the vehicle for 3 hire as assigned by the holder will be obtained and made identical. 4 No person shall operate a vehicle for hire in the City and no person who owns or controls such vehicle for hire shall permit it to be so driven 5 at any time unless the license indicia as required by this section has been affixed to said vehicle for hire by the Chief of Police or his designee. 6 Whenever license indicia is lost, stolen or destroyed, new indicia 7 may be issued upon the payment of a replacement fee of fifty dollars ($50) and the filing of an affidavit of loss. If the original license indicia is 8 recovered, it shall be returned to the Chief of Police or his designee promptly. Failure to comply with the provisions of this section shall 9 constitute a violation of this chapter. 10 Section 4: Section 20 of Ordinance No. 779-81 which reads as follows: 11 12 Section 20: POSTING OF SCHEDULE OF FARES. The owner of every for-hire vehicle shall cause to be posted and maintained in a 13 conspicuous location in the passenger's compartment of said vehicle a card or form, size and color approved by the City Clerk, on which shall be 14 shown a schedule of rates of fare charged by said owner, which rates shall not be in excess of amounts fixed by this title. 15 16 is hereby amended to read as follows: 17 Section 20: POSTING OF SCHEDULE OF FARES. 18 A. INTERIOR OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE. The owner of every 19 for-hire vehicle shall cause to be posted and maintained in a conspicuous location in the passenger's compartment of said vehicle a card of form, 20 size and color approved by the Everett Director of Weights and Measurers, on which shall be shown a schedule of rates of fare charged by 21 said owner, which rates shall not be in excess of amounts fixed by this title. 22 B. EXTERIOR OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE. A permanently 23 affixed sign indicating the rates as set forth in Section 19 of this ordinance shall be posted on both sides of the vehicle and be readable 24 from the side of the vehicle. The sign shall be located on the upper half of the body, below the window line affixed to the rear door; or when 25 unavailable, placed immediately adjacent to the rear door. The lettering shall be no smaller than 3/4" except for 1/2" minimum for "cents" rates, 26 and shall be on a contrasting background. 27 The City of Everett Director of Weights and Measures shall have available examples of such posting requirements indicating the allowable 28 format and content of the signs and cards as required by this section. 29 Section 5: A new section shall be added to Ordinance No. 779-81 which reads as 30 follows: 31 32 -4-
