May 30, 2018 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 6:30 p.m., May 30, 2018, in the City Council Chambers of the <br /> William E. Moore Historic City Hall, Council President Roberts presiding. <br /> Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members <br /> Roberts, Moore, Murphy, McNeal, Bader, Stonecipher, and Tuohy were <br /> present. <br /> Council Member Murphy led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the May 23, 2018, City Council meeting were approved as <br /> printed. Council Member Stonecipher abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> Moved by Council Member Murphy, seconded by Council Member <br /> Bader, to concur with the following appointment: <br /> Everett Public Facilities District Board <br /> Appointment of Michael Swanson to Position 2 for the remainder of <br /> a six-year term expiring December 31, 2021. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mayor Franklin spoke about recent incidences of hate speech in the <br /> community. She stated Everett is a safe city that condemns hateful acts that <br /> intimidate or marginalize members of the community. She also confirmed <br /> the Police Department is investigating recent events. <br /> The Mayor reported that the Everett School District has asked her to emcee <br /> the STEM competition awards ceremony at this year's Innovation Expo, <br /> which will be held at the Angel of the Winds Arena on June 6. She also <br /> announced that she has been selected to participate in the Joint Civilian <br /> 168 <br />
