4 <br /> a <br /> 1 vehicles, abandoned junk motor vehicles, and impounded vehicles meeting the require- <br /> 2 ments of Section 4 of this ordinance (RCW 46.90.365), vehicles left in garage storage <br /> 3 may be deemed abandoned in the following manner: <br /> 4 <br /> 1. A vehicle stored under a fixed contract of storage may be deemed <br /> 5 abandoned on the fifth day following expiration of the contract. <br /> 6 2. A vehicle stored under an open-ended contract of storage may be <br /> deemed abandoned at any time by the garage keeper. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 All such abandoned vehicles shall be disposed of by a registered disposer in <br /> 9 accordance with the procedures prescribed in Sections 9 and 10 of this ordinance (RCW <br /> 10 46.90.350 and 46.90.355). Any registered disposer failing to report the fact of <br /> 11 abandonment to the Department and the Chief of the Washington State Patrol pursuant <br /> 12 to Section 9 of this ordinance (RCW 46.90.350), shall forfeit any claim for the storage <br /> 13 of any such vehicle. <br /> 14 Section 12: DISPOSITION OF ABANDONED JUNK MOTOR VEHICLES. (RCW <br /> 15 46.90.375) <br /> 16 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the chief of police on his own <br /> 17 volition, or upon request from a private person having the right to possession of <br /> 18 property upon which an abandoned junk motor vehicle has been left, shall inspect and <br /> 19 may authorize the disposal of an abandoned junk motor vehicle. The Chief of Police <br /> 20 shall record the make of such vehicle, the serial number if available, and shall also <br /> 21 detail the damaged or missing equipment to substantiate a fair market value as scrap <br /> 22 only. He shall prepare in duplicate for each such abandoned junk motor vehicle an <br /> 23 authorization to dispose on a form provided by the Director. He shall issue the original <br /> 24 copy of such authorization to dispose to any licensed hulk hauler, motor vehicle <br /> 25 wrecker, or scrap processor for the purpose of acquiring an abandoned junk motor <br /> 26 vehicle: Provided, that such acquisition is for the purpose of ultimate transfer to and <br /> 27 demolition by a licensed scrap processor. <br /> 28 2. Any moneys arising from the disposal of abandoned junk motor vehicles <br /> 29 shall be deposited in the City general fund. <br /> 30 Section 13: UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLES - REMOVAL FROM FAMILY RESI- <br /> 31 DENTIAL PROPERTY.
