• <br /> 1 boundaries of the public right-of-way. The City of Everett Sewer <br /> 2 Department shall not be responsible for maintenance and operation of side <br /> sewers outside the public right-of-way. <br /> 3 (b) In the event a side sewer becomes blocked or stopped, it shall be the <br /> responsibility of the customer whose premises are attached to the side <br /> 4 sewer at his expense to investigate, by a roto-rooter type equipment or <br /> other approved method, whether the blockage or stoppage is on his <br /> 5 premises or within the public right-of-way. In the event that the <br /> customer has cause to believe the stoppage is within the public <br /> 6 right-of-way, he shall notify the City Sewer Department which shall <br /> investigate and determine the location after the customer has made the <br /> 7 initial effort to investigate and remove the side sewer obstruction by the <br /> approved methods. The determination of the Public Works Director, or <br /> 8 his designee shall be final and conclusive. If it is determined that the <br /> stoppage is within the responsibility of the City, by the City Sewer <br /> 9 Department, and the stoppage is due to a broken side service line within <br /> the City right-of-way, the bill for services of the last roto-rooter type <br /> 10 contractor shall be paid or reimbursed by the City Sewer fund for all work <br /> related to investigation and work on the public right-of-way, as herein <br /> 11 provided, at no cost to the customer. Payment of said bill or said <br /> reimbursement in accordance with the aforesaid procedure shall be <br /> 12 pursuant to the duty established by this Ordinance and the City Sewer <br /> Code and a damage claim may be waived. <br /> 13 <br /> (c) Side sewers shall not be installed nor extended in streets or alleys by <br /> 14 customers unless specifically approved by the Sewer Department prior to <br /> such installation and a permit is obtained by the customer from the City <br /> 15 Engineer's Office. <br /> 16 (d) Side sewer connections to the sewer main will be made at the owner's <br /> expense, under the inspection or supervision of the Sewer Department." <br /> 17 <br /> • <br /> 18 <br /> 19 `" .. <br /> MA OR <br /> 20 <br /> 21 ATTEST: <br /> 23 CLERK rt <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Passed: 315—h> <br /> 26 Valid: 517/5'"2- <br /> 27 Published: /ioA <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -2- <br />
