1 ORDINANCE NO. K tl-�0.? <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 807-81, the 1981 Edition of the <br /> National Electrical Code, adding new sections to the Code pre- <br /> 3 scribing the general administration of the Code. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical <br /> 6 <br /> Code; and <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deisres to add an additional section to the Code <br /> 8 <br /> prescribing administration of the Code; <br /> 9 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 10 <br /> SECTION 1: Ordinance No. 807-81 is hereby amended by the addition of the <br /> 11 <br /> following article to the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical Code: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Article 80 ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> 14 80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which <br /> additions, alterations or repairs are made to electrical system, including <br /> 15 any and all electrical wires, services, equipment and apparatus are made <br /> shall comply with all the requirements for new work in buildings and <br /> 16 structures as set forth in this ordinance except as specifically provided <br /> for in this section. <br /> 17 <br /> (b) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 80-11 shall take <br /> 18 precedence. <br /> 19 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus <br /> shall be maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which <br /> 20 are required by this code in a building, sign or structure when erected, <br /> altered or repaired shall be maintained in a safe and good working order. <br /> 21 The owner or his agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of all <br /> such electrical wiring, equipment and apparatus. <br /> 22 <br /> 80-3 MOVED BUILDINGS. All electrical wires, equipment or <br /> 23 apparatus within, or on, or attached thereto, which are moved within or <br /> into the City shall comply with the provisions of this ordinance and all <br /> 24 other applicable laws, codes and ordinances. <br /> 25 80-4 ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY & ASSISTANTS. The Building <br /> Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce all the provisions of <br /> 26 this ordinance. For such purpose he shall have the powers of a police <br /> officer. In accordance with procedure and with the approval of the chief <br /> 27 appointing authority of the City, the Building Official may appoint such <br /> number of officers, inspectors and assistants and other employees as may <br /> 28 be necessary to carry out the functions of this ordinance. <br /> 29 80-5 REPORTS AND RECORDS. The Building Official shall submit a <br /> report to the proper City official not less than once a year, covering the <br /> 30 work of the department during the preceding period. He shall incorporate <br /> in said report a summary of his recommendations as to desirable amend- <br /> 31 ments to this Code. <br /> 32 <br />
