K tl-�0.? 2 AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 807-81, the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical Code, adding new sections to the Code pre- 3 scribing the general administration of the Code. 4 5 WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical 6 Code; and 7 WHEREAS, the City Council deisres to add an additional section to the Code 8 prescribing administration of the Code; 9 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 10 SECTION 1: Ordinance No. 807-81 is hereby amended by the addition of the 11 following article to the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical Code: 12 13 Article 80 ADMINISTRATIVE 14 80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which additions, alterations or repairs are made to electrical system, including 15 any and all electrical wires, services, equipment and apparatus are made shall comply with all the requirements for new work in buildings and 16 structures as set forth in this ordinance except as specifically provided for in this section. 17 (b) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 80-11 shall take 18 precedence. 19 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus shall be maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which 20 are required by this code in a building, sign or structure when erected, altered or repaired shall be maintained in a safe and good working order. 21 The owner or his agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of all such electrical wiring, equipment and apparatus. 22 80-3 MOVED BUILDINGS. All electrical wires, equipment or 23 apparatus within, or on, or attached thereto, which are moved within or into the City shall comply with the provisions of this ordinance and all 24 other applicable laws, codes and ordinances. 25 80-4 ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY & ASSISTANTS. The Building Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce all the provisions of 26 this ordinance. For such purpose he shall have the powers of a police officer. In accordance with procedure and with the approval of the chief 27 appointing authority of the City, the Building Official may appoint such number of officers, inspectors and assistants and other employees as may 28 be necessary to carry out the functions of this ordinance. 29 80-5 REPORTS AND RECORDS. The Building Official shall submit a report to the proper City official not less than once a year, covering the 30 work of the department during the preceding period. He shall incorporate in said report a summary of his recommendations as to desirable amend- 31 ments to this Code. 32
