i • • 1 ORDINANCE NO. . 2 AN ORDINANCE relating to emergency medical care and services 3 including paramedic services; providing for the submission to the qualified electors of the City of Everett, at a special election to be 4 held therein on April 6, 1982, of a proposition authorizing the City to impose an additional regular property tax levy in an amount 5 equal to twenty-five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of property in the City each year for six consecutive years; 6 and authorizing interim financing upon approval of said levy. 7 8 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there exists a critical need for an 9 emergency medical care or emergency medical services program in the City, including 10 related personnel costs, training for such personnel, and related equipment, supplies, 11 vehicles and structures needed for said services; and 12 WHEREAS, to provide such program it is deemed necessary and advisable that 13 the City impose an additional regular property tax levy in the amount equal to 14 twenty-five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of property in the City 15 each year for six consecutive years; and 16 WHEREAS, the Constitution and laws of the State of Washington require that the 17 question of whether or not the City may impose said additional property tax levy for 18 such purpose must be submitted to the qualified electors of the City for their approval; 19 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 20 SECTION 1: As used in this ordinance, the words hereinafter defined shall have 21 the meaning set forth in this section: 22 (a) "City" means the City of Everett, Washington. 23 (b) "Legislative Authority" means the Mayor and City Council of the City. 24 (c) "Emergency medical care and services" means emergency medical care or 25 emergency medical services, including related personnel costs, training for such 26 personnel, and related equipment, supplies, vehicles and structures needed for the 27 provision of emergency medical care or emergency medical services including 28 paramedic services. 29 SECTION 2: The City Council finds that there exists a critical need for 30 emergency medical care and services in the City.
