i <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. . <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to emergency medical care and services <br /> 3 including paramedic services; providing for the submission to the <br /> qualified electors of the City of Everett, at a special election to be <br /> 4 held therein on April 6, 1982, of a proposition authorizing the City <br /> to impose an additional regular property tax levy in an amount <br /> 5 equal to twenty-five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed <br /> value of property in the City each year for six consecutive years; <br /> 6 and authorizing interim financing upon approval of said levy. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there exists a critical need for an <br /> 9 <br /> emergency medical care or emergency medical services program in the City, including <br /> 10 <br /> related personnel costs, training for such personnel, and related equipment, supplies, <br /> 11 <br /> vehicles and structures needed for said services; and <br /> 12 <br /> WHEREAS, to provide such program it is deemed necessary and advisable that <br /> 13 <br /> the City impose an additional regular property tax levy in the amount equal to <br /> 14 <br /> twenty-five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of property in the City <br /> 15 <br /> each year for six consecutive years; and <br /> 16 <br /> WHEREAS, the Constitution and laws of the State of Washington require that the <br /> 17 <br /> question of whether or not the City may impose said additional property tax levy for <br /> 18 <br /> such purpose must be submitted to the qualified electors of the City for their approval; <br /> 19 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 20 <br /> SECTION 1: As used in this ordinance, the words hereinafter defined shall have <br /> 21 <br /> the meaning set forth in this section: <br /> 22 <br /> (a) "City" means the City of Everett, Washington. <br /> 23 <br /> (b) "Legislative Authority" means the Mayor and City Council of the City. <br /> 24 <br /> (c) "Emergency medical care and services" means emergency medical care or <br /> 25 <br /> emergency medical services, including related personnel costs, training for such <br /> 26 <br /> personnel, and related equipment, supplies, vehicles and structures needed for the <br /> 27 provision of emergency medical care or emergency medical services including <br /> 28 paramedic services. <br /> 29 SECTION 2: The City Council finds that there exists a critical need for <br /> 30 emergency medical care and services in the City. Present City budget constraints <br /> 31 make it impossible to provide said emergency medical care and services without <br /> 32 <br />
