' � f <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2.35-- <br /> 2 <br /> 35 2 AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 12, 13 and 14 of Ordinance <br /> No. 570-78, as amended by Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Ordinance <br /> 3 No. 781-81, regarding emergency medical response in the City of <br /> Everett. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinances 570-78 and 781-81 which <br /> 6 <br /> regulates ambulances and also establishes emergency medical response service; and <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, there is language set forth therein which requires the Mayor to <br /> 8 <br /> negotiate with one or more ambulance companies annually to provide specified services <br /> 9 <br /> as part of medical emergency response services in the City; and <br /> 10 <br /> WHEREAS, the existing contract with an ambulance company has expired and <br /> 11 <br /> negotiations with the ambulance company providing services in 1982 have not resulted <br /> 12 <br /> in a mutually agreeable contract and the City Council feels that it would be in the best <br /> 13 <br /> interest of the City and the citizens thereof to eliminate the requirement of <br /> 14 <br /> contractual relations with an ambulance service; <br /> 15 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 16 SECTION 1: Section 12 of Ordinance No. 570-78, as amended by Section 1 of <br /> 17 Ordinance No. 781-81, which reads as follows: <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Section 12: Emergency Aid System. <br /> 20 A. There shall be an emergency aid system for emergency medical <br /> response to provide the least time response for patient emergency <br /> 21 aid and transportation, which shall consist of the following: <br /> 22 1. The 911 telephone access system. <br /> 23 2. Immediate notification of all requests for emergency <br /> medical aid received by the ambulance company to the Fire <br /> 24 Department. <br /> 25 3. The ambulance company shall not respond unless notified <br /> that additional units are required. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 28 Section 12: Emergency Aid System. <br /> 29 The City Fire Department shall operate Emergency Aid Cars and provide <br /> 30 emergency medical aid and transportation. All medical emergency <br /> dispatches through 911 telephone access shall be answered by the Fire <br /> 31 Department. Ambulance,services, as licensed herein, shall not respond to <br /> 911 dispatches in the City of Everett unless requested to do so by the Fire <br /> 32 Department. <br />
