EXHIBIT A
SCOPE OF WORK
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The South Precinct Parking Lot Expansion Project plans to develop the existing landscaped area into an asphalt
parking lot to either the south or the east of the exisitng building. It is anticipated that there will be clearing, grading
and demilishing activities to complete the work.
Geotest generally anticipates that the majority of the site will consist of impervious surfaces and that storniwater
mitigation will be required. Thus,Geotest expects that site grading will be required to direct surface flow to
infiltration,existing storm or LID facilities.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES-GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES
The purpose of the geotechnical services is to obtain subsurface information at the project site that will be used in the
design phase for the above project. The final product will be a suitably illustrated report containing a summary of
site conditions encountered with geotechnical engineering recommendations pertaining to project design and
construction.
Specifically, the services will include the following:
1. Exploration of soil and groundwater conditions underlying the project site by advancing up to 6 borings to
approximately 15 feet below the existing site grades to confirm the presence of groundwater and/or restrictive layers
that might impact the project. After drilling, the borings will be backfilled with bentonite chips and the drill spoils
will be stockpiled and left on site. Small stockpiles, less than 1 wheel barrow full per boring, are expected to be
generated due to drill cuttings.
The City should expect moderate amounts of disturbance in the landscaped area until such time as vegetation can be
re-established. It should also be expected that grass lawn and shrubs may be disturbed or even removed to allow for
equipment access to the area of interest. The budget does not include landscaping, remediation,or restoration of
disturbed areas due to the explorations.
2. Geotest will review the information collected during the subsurface soil investigation and perform geotechnical
engineering analyses to develop recommendations for the project. The findings and recommendations will be
summarized in a report that will contain the following information:
a. A site plan showing pertinent existing site features and the approximate locations of the explorations
accomplished for this project. Geotest requests that a suitable base plan be provided for this purpose.
b. Logs of the pit or boring explorations,as well as the results of laboratory testing. A chart will be included
illustrating the soil classification criteria and the terminology and symbols used on the exploration logs. The location
and depth to be determined in the field.
c. A summary of surface and subsurface soil and groundwater conditions observed at the site during field
exploration. The summary will include descriptions of subsurface profiles of bearing stratum and the potential
seasonal effects of groundwater.
d. Laboratory determinations of soil classification and engineering properties. Provide a preliminary assessment
of the on-site infiltration capability based on a grain size analysis on a least 4 soil samples in general accordance with
the Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington.
e. Geotest may submit up to 3 soil samples for pH,organic content, and cation-exchange capacity to address the
suitiblitiy of soils for the purposes of on-site treatment feasibility.
Page 12
(Form Approved by City Attorney's Office January 7,2010,updated November 21,2016)
