Why do you want to serve The reason I want to serve on this board and commission is on this because I love serving community. I want to create a healthy, board/commission? positive, and engaged society as a whole for the greater benefit of all participants. My personal and professional passion has been to serve the community ranging from young adults to seniors. I grew up appreciating elders and seniors in my family and communities; they instilled in me the core values of who I am and passed on their wisdom to allow me to be a better leader. Although serving seniors specifically might be an area for my professional growth, I am eager to contribute my passion for serving the community at the Carl Gibson Senior Center of Everett. In my current position I serve as the director of the BRIDGES Center at Everett Community College. One of the BRIDGES Center's programs works closely with seniors who are interested in tutoring students who are learning English as a second language. The program currently has about seventy-eight volunteer tutors who are seniors in our communities. I love learning from and listening to them. I want to be certain that our seniors feel valued, lively, healthy, and have peace in their own journeys at the Carl Gibson Senior Center. To be a board member is an excellent opportunity to allow me to serve the Everett senior community. I believe I could bring to this role innovative ideas, fun, leadership, and a different perspective.
