Thai society. I am ready and excited to advocate with and be <br /> part of a great senior center like the Carl Gibson Senior Center. <br /> Please provide My work as part of the public community college system has <br /> background, experience, involved functioning as a community organizer with many <br /> and qualifications that diverse communities in Snohomish County. I am confident that <br /> would assist you in I can bring a different perspective to the board in many <br /> serving on this activities—from recruiting strategies, ideas for senior <br /> board/commission involvement in communities of color, promoting and creating a <br /> variety of programs, community engagement strategies, and <br /> serving as a fiduciary—I have a strong skill set to contribute. I <br /> am connected to many elders in communities of color both in <br /> the King County and Snohomish County area. In addition, with <br /> my current position at the BRIDGES Center, I run a well-known <br /> program called the Volunteer Literacy Program that has <br /> attracted 78 retirees in the Snohomish area who volunteer with <br /> us in supporting the education and increased economic <br /> opportunities of immigrant and refugee students. 95 %of <br /> BRIDGES students are learning English as a second language <br /> and our senior volunteers are helping students to learn skills <br /> and improve their English ability. Recently, the BRIDGES <br /> Center in collaboration with the campus, student, senior and <br /> local community raised money during our 1st fundraiser in <br /> April. It was a great success in developing our emergency <br /> scholarship fund and bringing together a variety of <br /> stakeholders to work towards a common goal.
