IDEAL OPTION: Founded in Washington State by physicians,who are double Board certified in Addiction and Emergency Medicine, Ideal Option provides office based opioid treatment (OBOT) services to patients in 41 locations from Alaska to Maryland. Ideal Option has a strong and growing presence in Washington State, currently with 11 clinics and more opening soon. Ideal Option's Everett Location has been operating at 3624 Colby Ave. since September 2016. MEDICATION ASSISTED TREATMENT(MAT): Ideal Option uses the most up to date modalities for the treatment of various substance use disorders, with a special emphasis on opioid addiction. This Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) provided by Ideal Option allows patients to continue their daily lives while seeing providers on a regulated basis to treat their opioid addiction. Evidence shows better outcomes with MAT. Studies have consistently concluded that MAT: 1) decreases risk of relapse 2) is effective in preventing infectious diseases like HIV 3) is effective in preventing overdoses Ideal Option does not treat with methadone. As such, Ideal Option does not dispense medication at its clinics. In downtowns across the Country,Ideal Option's presence is both inconspicuous and supportive of safer communities. Presently there is a severe shortage of MAT providers in Everett. Ideal Option is poised to immediately help address that shortage. PARTNERSHIP WITH EVERETT POLICE and IMPROVED PUBLIC SAFETY: We invite the Council to seek feedback from the Everett Police Department about the efficacy of Ideal Option's collaboration to address the opioid crisis and support public safety. Ideal Option has developed a law enforcement partnership program where individuals struggling with addiction are brought directly to treatment instead of jail. This is a growing program in Everett. Ideal Option also has correctional facility partnerships, where individuals with addiction are provided education in the jail and transported to treatment upon release. In order to continue supporting the growth of these programs, Ideal Option must be allowed to open its doors to patients at its clinic space at 2808 Hoyt.
