+recovering addicts can be preyed upon by drug dealers in the area-a situation that
happened several times at recovery houses located across the street from the Schack Arts
Center, one block away. We continue to have problems with loitering and vandalism in the
alley behind our building, which would only grow worse.
To sum up,the Elks Lodge No.479 has a long history of service and contribution to Everett.
We have quietly and proudly made a difference in our community, but now look to you to
help us change the environment in which we operate. We cannot provide a place for
fellowship or accomplish our mission of giving back to the community if our members and
guests feel unsafe. The only way this will change is if you, our City Council, act to change
the direction by limiting the growth of additional social services and clinics in downtown
Everett as part of the Metro Plan.
Sincerely,
.062a 1‘4A-
Darcy Kirsch er,Exalted Ruler Walt Senn, Chairperson, Board of Directors
Everett Elks Lodge#479 Everett Elks Lodge#479
2808 Hoyt Ave #100
Everett,WA 98201
CC: Mayor Cassie Franklin
Economic Development Director Dan Eernissee
Metro Planning Staff
