1 ORDINANCE NO. 7,76-(9.-e) <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE adopting the 1979 Edition of the <br /> Uniform Housing Code repealing Ordinance <br /> 3 No. 437-77 commonly known as Everett <br /> Municipal Code Chapter 16 , 08 . <br /> 4 <br /> 5 WHEREAS, it is important for the City of Everett to <br /> 6 have contemporary minimum requirements of general application <br /> 7 for the protection of life, limb, health, property, safety and <br /> 8 welfare of the general public and owners and occupants of <br /> 9 residential buildings; and <br /> 10 WHEREAS , the Housing Code , 1979 Edition, as promulgated <br /> 11 by the International Conference of Building Officials is enacted <br /> 12 herein as protection for the general public and not to create <br /> 13 a duty to or in the favor of persons individually; <br /> 14 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 15 Section 1: The Uniform Housing Code, 1979 Edition, <br /> 16 as promulgated by the International Conference of Building <br /> 17 Officials, as amended herein, three (3) copies of which are on <br /> 18 file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Everett, is <br /> 19 hereby adopted and enacted by reference as though fully set <br /> 20 forth at length herein. <br /> 21 Section 2 : Chapter 1, Section 102 of the Uniform <br /> 22 Housing Code, 1979 Edition as promulgated by the International <br /> 23 Conference of Building Officials is hereby amended to read as <br /> 24 follows: <br /> 25 It is expressly the purpose of this Code to <br /> 26 provide for and promote the health, safety and <br /> 27 welfare of the general public, and not to create <br /> 28 or otherwise establish or designate any parti- <br /> 29 cular class or group of persons who will or <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
