8. Toilet rooms should be shown on the plans with a smooth hard nonabsorbent floor and base <br />that extends up the wall at least 4 inches, per IBC section 1210.1. <br />9. Water closets should be shown on the plans to have a smooth hard nonabsorbent wall surface <br />four feet above the floor within 2 feet of the water closet, per IBC section 1210.2. <br />10. The shower on the second floor requires a plumbing permit, and should be shown on the <br />drawings with a smooth, nonabsorbent surface to a height of 70 inches. <br />11. Ceilings should be shown on the drawings to comply with the seismic installation details of NW <br />Ceiling Institute, attached. <br />Accessibility <br />1. Upper floors exceeding 3000 square feet are required to have an accessible route, per IBC <br />section 1104.4. <br />2. The toilet room on the first floor nearest to the main entry is required to be accessible, per IBC <br />section 1109.2. <br />3. The shower on the second floor is required to be accessible, per IBC section 1109.2. <br />4. Accessible parking is required and should be shown on the drawings, per IBC section 1106.1, <br />and the first accessible parking spot should be shown as van accessible, per IBC section 1106.5. <br />5. An accessible route from the parking space to the store entrance should be shown on the <br />drawings, per IBC section 1104.1. <br />Additional Comments <br />1. The loading dock may be subject to a Public Works permit. The layout is currently being <br />reviewed by Everett Traffic and Engineering. <br />2. The washer and dryer require plumbing and mechanical permits, which can be obtained after <br />the building permit is issued. <br />3. A separate sign building permit is required for the exterior signage. <br />These comments address building issues only. Revisions or additions may be required by other <br />departments (Utilities, Public Works, or Planning). Upon resubmission of the drawings, plan review will <br />resume and your application will be given priority. All required submittals must be of sufficient detail <br />and information to ensure that the proposed structure will be constructed in compliance with all <br />adopted codes. Code references cited include the 2009 International Building Code (IBC), the 2006 <br />Washington State Energy Code (WSEC), and the 2003 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities <br />A117.1-2003 (ICC/ANSI).
