. L <br />K . <br />Occupancy <br />1. The code analysis should be shown on the drawings, to include: <br />a. Occupancy type, area, and loads per floor with number of exits required. <br />b. A determination of accessory, main, separated or non -separated occupancies, per IBC <br />section 508. <br />c. Construction type with allowable heights and areas, per IBC table 503. <br />d. Applicable codes. <br />Egress <br />1. The exit and exit access discharge should be shown on the drawings to the public way, per IBC <br />sections 1015, 1021.1.1, 1027.1, and 1027.6. <br />2. Two exits are required on the second floor since the travel distance exceeds 75 feet, per IBC <br />table 1021.2. <br />3. Required exits should be separated by one half of the maximum overall diagonal dimension of <br />the floor area served, per IBC section 1015.2.1. <br />4. Exit access should not be through a mercantile storage room, as shown on the second floor, <br />unless it complies with exception 2 in IBC section 1014.2. <br />5. Fixtures and furnishings should be shown on the drawings to demonstrate the minimum egress <br />aisle width of 36 inches, per IBC section 1017.2, unless the occupant load requires more width, <br />per IBC section 1005.1. <br />6. Emergency lighting should be shown on the drawings, per IBC section 1006.1. <br />7. Illuminated exit signs should be shown on the drawings, per IBC section 1011.1. <br />Construction <br />1. Stair treads and risers should be shown on the drawings to comply with minimum widths and <br />maximum heights, per IBC section 1009.4.2. <br />2. Winder treads are not permitted, per IBC section 1009.4.3. <br />3. Stair tread and risers should not exceed a maximum 3/8" difference between the largest and <br />smallest riser height or the largest and smallest tread depth in any flight of stairs, per IBC <br />section 1009.4.4. <br />4. Handrails should be shown on the drawings to extend 1'-0" beyond the bottom and top riser, <br />per IBC section 1012.6. <br />5. All walls should be indicated as new on the drawings, unless previously permitted and <br />inspected. <br />a. Wall construction should be shown on the drawings to resist a minimum 5 psf horizontal <br />load. <br />6. Guards should be detailed on the drawings to resist a minimum 50 plf load in any direction and <br />transfer the load to the structure. <br />7. Loading dock doors, man doors, exit doors, and hardware should be indicated as new on the <br />drawings, unless previously permitted and inspected. Doors and hardware should be shown on <br />the drawings to meet the minimum requirements of IBC section 1008. <br />
