• • 1 Section 42. That Chapter 12 of the Uniform Plumbing Code be, and is hereby 2 deleted in its entirety. 3 Section 43. The National Electrical Code, be, and is hereby amended by adding 4 a new Article 80 - Administrative. 5 80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which additions, alterations, or repairs are made to electrical system, including any and all 6 electrical wires, services, equipment and apparatus are made shall comply with all the requirements for new work in buildings and structures as set 7 forth in this Ordinance except as specifically provided for in this Section. 8 (a) When additions, alterations, or repairs within a 12 month period exceed 50 percent of the existing system, such 9 system shall be made to conform to all of the requirements of this code. 10 (b) When additions, alterations, or repairs within a 12 month 11 period do not exceed 50 percent of the existing system, the entire system need not be made to comply with all of the 12 provisions of this code except that all new work shall be installed as set forth in this code. 13 (c) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 11 shall 14 take precedence. 15 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus shall be maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which 16 are required by this code in a building, sign or structure when erected, altered or repaired shall be maintained in a safe and good working order. 17 The owner or his agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of all such electrical wiring, equipment and apparatus. 18 80-3 MOVED BUILDINGS. All electrical wires, equipment, or apparatus 19 within, or on, or attached thereto, which are moved within or into the City shall comply with the provisions of this Ordinance and all other 20 applicable laws, codes and ordinances. 21 80-4 ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY & ASSISTANTS. The Building Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce all the provisions of 22 this ordinance. For such purpose he shall have the powers of a police officer. In accordance with procedure and with the approval of the chief 23 appointing authority of the City, the Building Official may appoint such number of officers, inspectors, and assistants and other employees as may 24 be necessary to carry out the functions of this ordinance. 25 80-5 REPORTS AND RECORDS. The Building Official shall submit a report to the proper City official not less than once a year, covering the 26 work of the department during the preceding period. He shall incorporate in said report a summary of his recommendations as to desirable 27 amendments to this Code. 28 The Building Official shall keep a permanent, accurate account of all fees and other monies collected and received under this Code, the names of the 29 persons upon whose account the same were paid, the date and amount thereof, together with the location of the building or premises to which 30 they relate. 31 32 - 37 -
