• • 1 After the effective date of this ordinance, every building falling within the scope of this Chapter shall be vacated until made to conform to the 2 requirements of this Section. 3 Section 20. That Appendix Chapter 13, Section 1313 (f) of the Uniform Building 4 Code be, and is hereby amended by deleting: 5 (f) Interior Stairways. Every interior stairway shall be enclosed with walls of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construction. 6 Where existing partitions form part of a stairwell enclosure, wood, lath 7 and plaster in good condition will be acceptable in lieu of one-hour fire- resistive construction. Doors to such enclosures shall be protected by a 8 self-closing door equivalent to a solid wood door not less than 1-3/4 inches thick. Enclosures shall include landings between flights and any corridors, 9 passageways, or public rooms necessary for continuous exit to the exterior of the building. 10 The stairways need not be enclosed in a continuous shaft if cut off at each 11 story by the fire-resistive construction required by this Subsection for stairwell enclosures. 12 Enclosures shall not be required if an automatic fire-extinguishing system 13 is provided for all portions of the building except bedrooms, apartments and rooms accessory thereto. 14 and inserting in its place: 15 (f) Interior Stairways. Pamphlet 72.A. and as 25 approved by the Fire Marshal and Building Official. 26 Section 21. That Section 201 (c) of the Uniform Mechanical Code be, and is 27 hereby amended by deleting: 28 Whenever necessary to make an inspection to enforce any of the provisions of this Code, or whenever the Building Official or his 29 authorized representative has reasonable cause to believe that there exists in any building or upon any premises, any condition which makes 30 such building or premises unsafe as defined in Section 203 of the Building Code, the Building Official or his authorized representative may enter 31 such building or premises at all reasonable times to inspect the same or to perform any duty imposed upon the Building Official by this Code; 32 - 8 -
