• <br /> • <br /> 1 After the effective date of this ordinance, every building falling within <br /> the scope of this Chapter shall be vacated until made to conform to the <br /> 2 requirements of this Section. <br /> 3 Section 20. That Appendix Chapter 13, Section 1313 (f) of the Uniform Building <br /> 4 Code be, and is hereby amended by deleting: <br /> 5 (f) Interior Stairways. Every interior stairway shall be enclosed with walls <br /> of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construction. <br /> 6 <br /> Where existing partitions form part of a stairwell enclosure, wood, lath <br /> 7 and plaster in good condition will be acceptable in lieu of one-hour fire- <br /> resistive construction. Doors to such enclosures shall be protected by a <br /> 8 self-closing door equivalent to a solid wood door not less than 1-3/4 inches <br /> thick. Enclosures shall include landings between flights and any corridors, <br /> 9 passageways, or public rooms necessary for continuous exit to the exterior <br /> of the building. <br /> 10 <br /> The stairways need not be enclosed in a continuous shaft if cut off at each <br /> 11 story by the fire-resistive construction required by this Subsection for <br /> stairwell enclosures. <br /> 12 <br /> Enclosures shall not be required if an automatic fire-extinguishing system <br /> 13 is provided for all portions of the building except bedrooms, apartments <br /> and rooms accessory thereto. <br /> 14 <br /> and inserting in its place: <br /> 15 <br /> (f) Interior Stairways. Pamphlet 72.A. and as <br /> 25 approved by the Fire Marshal and Building Official. <br /> 26 Section 21. That Section 201 (c) of the Uniform Mechanical Code be, and is <br /> 27 hereby amended by deleting: <br /> 28 Whenever necessary to make an inspection to enforce any of the <br /> provisions of this Code, or whenever the Building Official or his <br /> 29 authorized representative has reasonable cause to believe that there <br /> exists in any building or upon any premises, any condition which makes <br /> 30 such building or premises unsafe as defined in Section 203 of the Building <br /> Code, the Building Official or his authorized representative may enter <br /> 31 such building or premises at all reasonable times to inspect the same or to <br /> perform any duty imposed upon the Building Official by this Code; <br /> 32 <br /> - 8 - <br />
