INC. <br />TESTING & INSPECTIOrv / ENGINEERS /GEOLOGi5T5 <br />The fire resistance rating of the roof at this time appears not to <br />meet the criteria Class A or Class B rooEing materials, or the Fire <br />Retardant Roof Coverings as delineated in the 1979 Uniform Suilding <br />Code, Section 3202(e). There is no mention in the Code oE any <br />acceptance of the use of any t�•pe of glaze or smooth asphalt coating <br />for meetina Fire Retardant Roof Covering criteria, which we under— <br />stand the City of Everett to require. <br />In addition ta our review of the UBC criteria, we have reviewed our <br />literature and discussed the flammability of ATCO 1818 with Mr. Don <br />Davis, chemist for ATCO. This raview and discussion process has <br />reinforced our opinion that the roof as it now exists will not meet <br />the UBC criteria for Fire Retardant Roof Coverings. <br />We suggest that the blisters in the newer membrane be cut and <br />patched in accordance with standard practices; and that any new <br />membrane applied, extend up under the sheet metal flashing. <br />We trust the abc'�e discussion �oill be of service, if you have any <br />questions, plea�e do not hesitate to call. <br />Respectfully, <br />CASCADE TESTING LABORATORY, INC. <br />� <br />Raymond C.
