The roof joists are 24K1U's spaced 5'-0' apart These are eapable of svpporting a <br />unifortn load of 380 plf, or 73 psf. This resuRs in a total momeM capactty of 72,247 ft Ibs, Assumin9 <br />existing dead and live loads do nat ezceed 50 psf, the acfual moment in the mem6er is a7,531 ft-Ibs. <br />ihis leaves 24,715 ft-lbs avallahle for mechanlcel equipment. There are two existing uniLs curre�Uy <br />resting an the member, welghin9 550 Ibs and 490 �bs each• 'i7ie new unit veeighs a maximum of 1200 Ihs. <br />Assuming all units are supparted by at lesst twa joists and all afe �ncentl'ated at the cerder of the span, <br />(a conservafi�e approach) the maudmurti additionel moment capacity required is 10,920 ft-Ibs.
