I <br /> 1 I <br /> 2 <br /> 3 TI 7- C$r 5 r,^ m <br /> I <br /> 4 Division 5 <br /> 5 Surface Treatments and Pavements <br /> 7 5-04%17,17 <br /> 4%1 <br /> 8 5-04 Hot Mix Asphalt I <br /> 9 (July 18, 2018 APWA GSP) <br /> 10 <br /> I <br /> 11 Delete Section 5-04 and amendments, Hot Mix Asphalt and replace it with the following: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 5-04.1 Description <br /> I <br /> 14 This Work shall consist of providing and placing one or more layers of plant-mixed hot <br /> 15 mix asphalt (HMA) on a prepared foundation or base in accordance with these <br /> 16 Specifications and the lines, grades, thicknesses, and typical cross-sections shown I <br /> 17 in the Plans. The manufacture of HMA may include warm mix asphalt (WMA) processes <br /> 18 in accordance with these Specifications. WMA processes include organic additives, <br /> 19 chemical additives, and foaming. <br /> I <br /> 20 <br /> 21 HMA shall be composed of asphalt binder and mineral materials as may be required, <br /> 22 mixed in the proportions specified to provide a homogeneous, stable, <br /> I <br /> 23 and workable mixture. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 5-04.2 Materials <br /> I <br /> 26 Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: <br /> 27 Asphalt Binder 9-02.1(4) <br /> 28 Cationic Emulsified Asphalt 9-02.1(6) I <br /> 29 Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 <br /> 30 HMA Additive 9-02.5 I 31 Aggregates 9-03.8 <br /> 32 Recycled Asphalt Pavement 9-03.8(3)B <br /> 33 Mineral Filler 9-03.8(5) <br /> I <br /> 34 Recycled Material 9-03.21 <br /> 35 Portland Cement 9-01 <br /> 36 Sand 9-03.1(2) <br /> I <br /> 37 (As noted in 5-04.3(5)C for crack sealing) <br /> 38 Joint Sealant 9-04.2 I 39 Foam Backer Rod 9-04.2(3)A <br /> 40 The Contract documents may establish that the various mineral materials required for <br /> 41 the manufacture of HMA will be furnished in whole or in part by the Contracting Agency. <br /> 42 If the documents do not establish the furnishing of any of these mineral materials by the <br /> 43 Contracting Agency, the Contractor shall be required to furnish such materials in the <br /> 44 amounts required for the designated mix.
