I <br /> 1 1 Tapping Sleeve and Valve: <br /> 2 All wet taps to existing water mains shall be done by City Utility Department <br /> 3 personnel. Contractor shall provide all materials and parts to perform all pavement <br /> 4 sawing, pavement removal, excavations, shoring, and traffic control and other work <br /> 5 required to install the tapping sleeve and valve assembly. City personnel will perform <br /> 6 the tap of the existing main after the Contractor has the site ready, the parts on hand, <br /> 7 and is ready for the tapping operation. City personnel shall not enter any excavation <br /> 8 not shored in conformance with the requirements of WISHA, RCW 49.17 including <br /> 9 WAC 296-155. City personnel shall be given at least 5 business days minimum <br /> 10 notice for each tap. The City of Everett shall thereafter determine the date and time <br /> 11 that each tap shall be made. Contractor shall be responsible for backfill, compaction, <br /> 12 and restoration of the pavement once the tapping sleeve and valve assembly has <br /> I 13 been installed by the City and tested. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Adjusting Valve Boxes to Grade: <br /> 16 Where shown in the plans, existing valve boxes and covers shall be adjusted to the <br /> 17 grade as staked or otherwise designated by the Engineer. The adjustment of the <br /> 18 valve box to grade by the use of riser rings is not allowed. <br /> I 19 <br /> 20 Removal operations shall be conducted to prevent damage to the valve boxes. Any <br /> 21 parts or materials damaged due to the Contractor's operations shall be replaced at <br /> I <br /> 22 his expense. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 The Contractor shall conduct his valve box adjustments so that the fully-adjusted <br /> 25 box allows the respective valve to be fully operational. The Contractor shall remove <br /> 26 all debris from the adjusted valve boxes to ensure such operational condition. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 7-12.4 Measurement <br /> I 29 <br /> 30 "Adjust Valve Box to Grade", shall be measured per Each. <br /> 31 <br /> I 32 <br /> 33 7-12.5 Payment <br /> 34 <br /> I 35 SECTION 7-12.5 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS SUPPLEMENTED BY THE <br /> 36 FOLLOWING: <br /> 37 <br /> I 38 Payment will be made for each of the following bid items that are included in the Proposal: <br /> 39 <br /> 40 "Gate Valve, Inch", per EACH. <br /> I 41 <br /> 42 The unit contract price per each for the valves specified shall be full pay for all work to <br /> 43 furnish and install valves complete in place on the water main, including trenching, <br /> 44 jointing, painting, disinfecting, hydrostatic testing, and valve box.
