I <br /> 1 7-08.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 2 <br /> II43 7-08.3(2) Laying Pipe <br /> 5 Survey Line and Grade <br /> I 6 Section 7-08.3(2)A is deleted and replaced with the following: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 (City of Everett GSP) <br /> 9 Surveys required to construct the sewer line such as alignment stakes, grade <br /> I 10 hubs, intermediate staking, etc, shall be provided by the Contractor from the main <br /> 11 control points as shown on the drawing. If a bid item for"Survey" is not listed in <br /> I 12 the Proposal, the Contractor shall consider this item to be incidental to the <br /> 13 contract. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 The Contractor shall provide laser control equipment as approved by the Engineer <br /> I16 for setting pipe grades. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 7-08.3(3) Backfilling <br /> Il19 Section 7-08.3(3) is supplemented with the following: <br /> 20 (******) <br /> 21 Backfilling shall be performed only after inspection and approval of the installed pipe. <br /> I22 Refer to City Standard Drawings 610 and 615 for typical trench section backfill and <br /> 23 compaction requirements. <br /> 24 <br /> I25 If native material is not suitable for use as backfill, "Gravel Borrow"conforming to Section <br /> 26 9-03.14(1) of these Special Provisions shall be used, as required by the Engineer, for <br /> 27 trench backfill. Where trench sections are defined in the drawings, the materials called <br /> I28 for shall be used. Gravel borrow shall not be used in lieu of the materials specified in <br /> 29 the drawings unless specifically approved by the Engineer. <br /> 30 <br /> I31 If the native material is unsuitable at the foundation level, as determined by the Engineer, <br /> 32 excavation shall continue to the depth required by the Engineer. The unsuitable <br /> 33 foundation material shall be replaced with "Quarry Rock", as described in section 9-13.8 <br /> 34 of these special provisions, compacted firmly into the subgrade soils. After placement <br /> I35 of "Quarry Rock", the upper surface shall be compacted to minimize exposed jagged <br /> 36 edges across the over excavated area. A construction geotextile meeting the <br /> 37 specification requirements for separation as provided in table 3 of Section 9-33.2(1) <br /> P38 Standard Specifications shall be placed over the top of all "Quarry Rock" prior to <br /> 39 placement of pipe bedding. The unsuitable material shall be disposed of by hauling to <br /> 40 a waste site obtained and provided by the Contractor in accordance with Section 2- <br /> '1 41 03.3(7)C of the Standard Specifications. Stockpiling of unsuitable material on the project <br /> 42 site will not be allowed. <br /> 43 <br /> I44 If there is an excess of backfill material obtained from trench excavation at one location <br /> 45 on the project, it shall be used at other locations on the project or disposed of as at an <br /> 46 approved disposal site.
