The adaptive management includes the selection <br /> 2 and utilization of BMPs, scheduling of activities, prohibiting unacceptable practices, <br /> 111 <br /> 3 implementing maintenance procedures, and other managerial practices that when used <br /> 4 singularly or in combination, prevent or reduce the release of pollutants to waters of the <br /> 5 State. The adaptive management shall use the means and methods identified in this <br /> I <br /> 6 section and means and methods identified in the Washington State Department of <br /> 7 Transportation's Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control Manual or the Washington <br /> 8 State Department of Ecology's Stormwater Management Manuals for construction <br /> I 9 stormwater. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 The Contractor shall install a high visibility fence along the site preservation lines shown <br /> I <br /> 12 in the Plans or as instructed by the Engineer. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Throughout the life of the project, the Contractor shall preserve and protect the <br /> 15 delineated preservation area, acting immediately to repair or restore any fencing <br /> 16 damaged or removed. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 All discharges to surface waters shall comply with surface water quality standards as <br /> 19 defined in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) Chapter 173-2O1A. All discharges to <br /> 20 the ground shall comply with groundwater quality standards WAC Chapter 173-200. <br /> 21 <br /> I 22 The Contractor shall comply with the CSWGP when the project is covered by the <br /> 23 CSWGP. Temporary Work, at a minimum, shall include the implementation of: <br /> 24 <br /> I <br /> 25 <br /> 26 1. Sediment control measures prior to ground disturbing activities to ensure all <br /> discharges from construction areas receive treatment prior to discharging from <br /> 27 the site. <br /> I 28 <br /> 29 2. Flow control measures to prevent erosive flows from developing. <br /> 30 <br /> I 31 3. Water management strategies and pollution prevention measures to prevent <br /> 32 contamination of waters that will be discharged to surface waters or the <br /> 33 ground. <br /> 34 <br /> I 35 4. Erosion control measures to stabilize erodible earth not being worked. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 5. Maintenance of BMPs to ensure continued compliant performance. <br /> I 38 <br /> 39 6. Immediate corrective action if evidence suggests construction activity is not in <br /> 40 compliance.
