Additionally,housing affordability continues to be an issue in Everett <br /> particularly related to the current housing crisis and homelessness. Council discussed the issue,at the October <br /> 2017 Retreat where information was presented regarding the housing environment in the City including <br /> demographics, existing policies,regional expectations, current and projected needs, market realities, and <br /> potential actions to consider(distributed October 21,2017). On November 29, 2017, Council passed <br /> Ordinance 3579-17 enacting a Special Connection Charges Exemption for new affordable housing projects <br /> (set to expire on November 29,2021)in an effort to further support affordable housing production. At that <br /> time, Council requested a broader look at the City's affordable housing strategies and incentives. Council <br /> also asked for comparisons of other jurisdictions' housing programs. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Review and discuss housing information. <br /> 1 <br />
