Fire safety during construction, alteration, or demolition is required to be provided as <br /> indicated in Article 87, Uniform Fire Code. Sec. 8701, Uniform Fire Code <br /> 2. Elcwators opening into a corridor shail be provided with an elevator lobby at each floor <br /> containing such a corridor. The lobby sliall completeiy separate che elevators from the <br /> corridor by not less than one-hour fire-resisrive construcdon. All openings into the lobby <br /> wall contiguous with the corridor shall be protected by a tight-fitting smoke- and draft- <br /> control assembly having a fire-protection tating of not less than 20 minutes. Where <br /> elevator shafts are pressurized, a 20-minutes smoke- and draft-control assembly is <br /> providad in front of the elevator door, or an approved product such as Smoke Guard is <br /> provided, elevator lob oies nerd not be provided.
